New Reasons to bring you
home...

Welcome to our home
Grant County Kentucky!

Welcome to Grant County!

Grant County is Northern Kentucky’s southernmost county. Located at the tiptop of the Bluegrass Region, we are within one hour of Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky, and Cincinnati, Ohio.

Our county is rich in natural beauty with many lakes, streams, ridges and rolling hills, and we offer boundless cultural, educational, employment, and business opportunities that few communities can match.

Our staff and the many departments of our local government are proud to offer services that make us a great place to live, work, play, do business, or simply enjoy the serenity and simple pleasures of life.

Come and experience southern hospitality at the place where it all begins...Grant County.

Traveling Vietnam Memorial

Our Wall is a 3/5 scale of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC, it stands six feet tall at the center and covers almost 300 feet from end to end.

This Traveling Memorial stands as a reminder of the great sacrifices made during the Vietnam War. It was made for the purpose of helping heal and rekindle friendships and to allow people the opportunity to visit loved ones in their home town who otherwise may not be able to make the trip to Washington.

The City of Williamstown and The Williamstown Merchants Association, with assistance from Kentucky Veteran's Cemetery North and several sponsors and volunteers will be hosting the Vietnam Travelling Memorial Wall during the summer of 2013.

The names on The Wall are listed by day of casualty. Beginning at the center/apex, the names start on the East Wall (right-hand side) working their way out to the end of that wing, picking up again at the far end of the West Wall (left-hand side) and working their way back in to the center/apex, joining the beginning and ending of the conflict at the center.

GED Update

COMPLETE GED NOW BEFORE TEST CHANGES

Kentucky Adult Education has announced that the current version of the GED test will expire at the end of 2013. The current version, known as the 2002 Series GED test, will be replaced with the new 2014 GED test on January 2, 2014.

The important point that Kentuckians need to know is this - people who have taken the 2002 Series GED test, but have not passed all five parts, have only until December 18, 2013, to take the current test. If they do not pass all five parts by December 18, 2013, they will need to start over again in 2014 with the new GED test. Close to 100 residents of Grant County have passed parts, but not all, of the current GED test version.

"In Northern Kentucky it is very difficult to get a job without a GED," says, Amelia Cloud, Coordinator of Grant County Adult Education Services, Gateway Community & Technical College.   "We want to be sure everyone is aware of this deadline. We strongly encourage GED test-takers to act now to finish and pass before the current test expires.

"Grant County Adult Education will offer some 'Prove Yourself ' Testing dates in April.  This is a chance for people to come in and try taking the Official Practice Test.  If you pass all parts, you can sign up with a minimal amount of work," she said. "But if you have never worked on you GED there is no time like the present, so come and get started now."

A couple of important tips you should know about GED testing in Kentucky before the end of 2013:

* The last day to take the current version of the GED test is December 18, 2013.
* All GED test-takers must first pass the Official GED Practice Test™, which is available at all local adult education programs.

GED testing information is also available at www.finishtheGED.com<http://www.finishtheGED.com> and www.grantged.com<http://www.grantged.com> .
