Grant County Fiscal Court Mission Statement & Goals

Mission Statement
20007 - 2010

It is our mission to facilitate an improved quality of life for all Grant County
residents through the timely maintenance and expansion of our infrastructure
while strenghthening and diversifying our economy.

GOALS
  • Provide for an aesthetically pleasing enviroment.
  • Expand recreational opportunities and facilities.
  • Within 4 years, no resident will be more than 10 miles from a park.
  • Continue to explore alternative water sources & assist in the expansion of water systems.
  • Facilitate and expand development of emerging technologies.
  • Support Senior Services.
  • Solicit industry, business, and comerce.
  • Improve and expand road system.
  • Implement and support alternative work programs for the corrective behavior of adults and juveniles.
  • Continue to explore merged services to lower cost & improve effectiveness.
  • Seek to increase cooperation between all agencies and municipalities.
OBJECTIVES


Provide for an aesthetically pleasing environment.

o        Landscape major entrances to the county.

o        Provide for roadside clean-ups & Spring/Fall clean-ups.

o        Advocate for the removal of abandoned mobile homes and vehicles.

o        Consider the adoption of a Nuisance Ordinance.

o        Advocate the Preservation of our historic and rural heritage by protecting existing properties and preserving buildings of historic value.

Offer recreational opportunities and facilities.

o        Initiate Phased Construction of “South” Park.

o        Construct and expand recreational areas in established unincorporated communities.

o        Increase program development for all ages.

o        Pursue hiker-biker trail opportunities.

 

Continue to explore alternative water sources & assist in the expansion of water systems.

o        Encourage Connection to other water systems.

o        Aggressively seek federal and state funding for expansion of Lake Williamstown.
         

Facilitate the use and development of emerging technologies.

o        Employ Geographical Informational System (GIS) data.

o        Develop and expand GIS capability and applications for emergency response, economic development, land use, public safety, planning and zoning, etc.

o        Expand comprehensive county website.

 

Support Senior Services.

o        Host a Seniors Exposition.

o        Continue to support “Meals on Wheels” program.

o        Assess the delivery of senior services.

Solicit industry, business, and commerce.

o        Support Industrial Authority, Chamber of Commerce, & Tourism.

o        Work with adjoining counties to develop a marketing plan.

o        Continue to advocate the expansion & improvement of community facilities and broadband.

o        Encourage small business growth.

o        Provide and support opportunities for education & training of workforce

 

Improve and expand road system.

o        Identify and Prioritize roads for re-surface.

o        Identify new roads, exits, by-pass in anticipated high growth areas.

Continue to implement and support alternative work programs for the corrective behavior of adults and juveniles.

o        Support Alternative Programs for juveniles.

o        Utilize Class-D inmate labor to lower service delivery cost.

 

Continue to explore merged services to lower cost & improve effectiveness.

o        Assess the delivery of emergency services.

o        Continue to advocate one zoning ordinance.

o        Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of government through utilization of productivity enhancing technology and equipment; and maintain a well trained, highly motivated, fairly compensated workforce.

Seek to increase the cooperation between all agencies and municipalities.

o        Attend meetings of all agencies and municipalities.

o        Foster an environment of trust & respect.
