Community Education of Grant County is inclusive of both Grant County and Williamstown Independent Schools.  Its mission is to form partnerships with all members of the community, from the youngest children to our oldest citizen. Community Education is accomplished through these five initiatives: lifelong learning providing learning opportunities for all members of the community through enrichment programming and technical training, volunteerism encourages citizens to actively participate in the education of children and needs of the community through volunteer programming, service learning programs that allow students to apply knowledge acquired in the classroom to projects that help meet the needs of the community, community schools  transforming traditional schools into the community learning centers by making them available to all members of the community for learning and enrichment programs beyond the normal schools hours, collaboration working to reduce competition and duplication of services within the schools and the community creating a spirit of collaboration among all service agencies.

It seeks to identify children, ages 3-21 whose families make their living through farm work, and move frequently from place to place, or staying in one location less than 3 years.  The Grant County Migrant Education Program (MEP) is a Title I , part C program under the Federal Education guidelines, No Child Left Behind (NCLB).

The local MEP assists the families in getting their children enrolled in school, help with the immunizations, & other necessary paperwork.   One-on-one assistance is given to each child to ensure they are succeeding in school, by working with the teachers/schools/families, providing extra educational materials, tutors, interpreters, transportation to school functions, making home visits, and offering after-school and summer programs.  Referrals to social agencies are also made when food, clothing, housing, medical or other needs are hindering the child from having an optimal educational experience.

All funds for the MEP are provided by the federal government to state and local school districts.
